Sarpong launches campaign to annex Nhyiaeso from NPP

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Nhyiaeso, Mr Samuel Sarpong, has launched his campaign to annex the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with a call on the electorate to vote for a leader with a track record of providing Kumasi with development projects.

Mr Sarpong who was once the Mayor of Kumasi said though the NPP had occupied the seat since 1996, his confidence of winning the seat stems from the fact that the people were aware of his track record at Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA)at the Regional Coordinating Council as Regional Minister and his current position as the Managing Director of the State Housing Company (SHC).

Addressing a large crowd of supporters at the Methodist Park at Patase in Kumasi, Mr Sarpong said “if we are looking for a parliamentarian to represent us, we should look at the character and personality of the candidate.”

He also urged the people to vote for President John Mahama  for him to continue with the unprecedented development he was bringing to the country.

Mr Sarpong was introduced in turns by the Minister of Sports, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Alexander John Ackon, who both eulogised Mr Sarpong for his dedicated spirit and urged the electorate to vote massively for him.

Mr Sarpong’s main contender is the NPP’s Kennedy Kankam who is making his first attempt to go to parliament.

Kankam beat Dr Richard Anane who had been the MP for the area since 1996 at the party’s parliamentary primary in June last year.
