EC wants parties to stay off results declaration

The Electoral Commission (EC) has cautioned all political parties to desist from declaring any final results of the general elections on their owns.

“We would not want any political party to be ahead of the Commission. We are hereby asking the political parties to refrain from coming out with any result,” the EC's Director of Elections, Mr Samuel Tettey, said.

Speaking at a press conference this dawn, Mr Tettey said so far the results, which were being circulated, were only provisional results and not certified.

“By law, it is only the chairperson of the EC who is mandated to declare election results,” he said.
