Don’t destroy the peace and stability — Lawrence Tetteh

Dr Lawrence Tetteh, a UK -based Ghanaian International Evangelist, has called on  Ghanaians to  be more circumspect in their actions and speeches, especially within these few days to the 2016 polls so as to safeguard the  tranquillity the country has been blessed with.

He said during this time the slightest action or word could spark controversies capable of destroying the peace and stability of the country.

He, therefore, underscored the need for all stakeholders  to make a conscious effort to be agents of peace and unity before, during and after the elections.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic in  Accra yesterday, he made a special appeal to the media and the clergy  in particular to be mindful of the fact that they had a larger platform and, therefore, their words and actions could have a larger impact on national  security before, during and after the election.

“I am appealing to the public, especially the clergy, to desist from predicting election results in the name of prophesies. Such prophesies could be right or wrong but the men of God should be mindful when to go public or not, considering the impact of their action on the country,” he said.

According to him, God does not approve of any prophesy that will throw the country into a state of anarchy and instability.

Dr Tetteh appealed to the media to desist from using or allowing their platform, which had a wider reach, to be used to incite violence.

“Let us leave the announcement of election results and any similar action to the Electoral Commission as a body exclusively mandated by the Constitution to do so for the sake of peace,”

He said Ghanaians should promote the ideals of the country’s peace and stability because it was bigger than the ideals of any political party.

Pray for Ghana

Dr Tetteh, who is also the Founder of Worldwide Miracle Outreach, called on Christians who, according to him, formed about 70 per cent of the Ghanaian population, to pray for the peace of the country fervently.

He said if Christians could do that in collaboration with other faiths and act responsibly, the peace and stability the country was enjoying now would be guaranteed.

Prayer, he said, was not only necessary for the election of national leaders, but was also a spiritual one and, therefore, spiritual stakeholders needed to do their part to ensure a free, fair and peaceful elections.

He said becoming a political leader was not about good manifestos, rallies, projecting government projects, among others,  but was a divine appointment.

Prayer outreach to intercede for peaceful polls

“The Worldwide Miracle Outreach is, therefore, organising an all day prayer retreat to intercede for a peaceful elections which is free and fair,” he said.

He called on all well-meaning Ghanaians and resident non-Ghanaians to join the church at the Trade Fair Centre, Pavilion A,  on Saturday, December 3, 2016 to pray for the country prior to the elections, which are barely seven days away.

He said the prayer would focus on seeking God’s direction while the country rounded up its electoral process, good health for the Ghanaian population, right leadership for the country and the power for the electorate to be discerning in casting their votes.

Rev. Dr Tetteh asked all those seeking elective positions to put the country’s interest above their personal or political party interests.

That, he said, would also help to safeguard the peace and security Ghana was currently enjoying.

He said Ghanaians had a collective responsibility to ensure that the country remained united even after the elections

“I believe that it is the preserve of the Lord Almighty to enthrone leaders and his infallible nature is proof that he has never erred in selecting suitable leaders each time we go to the polls,” he said.
