Court strikes out Agyepong from Afoko's witnesses

The suspended General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Kwabena Agyepong has been expunged as a witness for Mr Paul Afoko who is challenging his suspension as National Chairman of the party in a suit at the Human Rights High Court.

This followed his absence and unavailability in court to testify in support of Mr Afoko’s case that he was wrongfully suspended.

Mr Agyepong was expected to testify in court on Thursday but when the case was called he was absent.

After counsel for Mr Afoko, Mr Sarfo Buabeng told the court that he was not available to give testimony and that the legal team was withdrawing him, the court went ahead to expunge his name as a witness, Graphic Online's Emmanuel Ebo Hawkson reported.

He was supposed to be the third witness of the suspended National Chairman.

This means that he will no longer be able to give testimony in support of Mr Afoko’s case.

Mr Afoko together with Kwabena Agyepong and Sammy Crabbe have been suspended indefinitely as national executives of the NPP in what the party describes as “misconduct” and “disregard for party structures.”

Mr. Agyepong unlike Messrs. Afoko and Crabbe have not sought a legal action to challenge his suspension.

Afoko's team ended their case today.

The court , presided over by Mr Justice Anthony Yeboah, adjourned the case to June 24, 2016 for the NPP to open their defence.
