The MP's supporters stressed that Mr.Pele has what it takes to win the seat owing to his “support base, humility, hard work and the goodwill” he continues to enjoy from a good number of people in the Chiana-Paga constituency.

Speaking at a press conference at Paga on Tuesday, the Spokeperson  for the group, Mr.Michael Gantera emphasized that "our dear Abuga Pele will surely emerge winner in the upcoming elections to represent the constituency and continue his good work he has done for the people; we know what we want and we shall surely go in for it but only through legitimate means however we will advise ourselves if the legitimate means cannot get us what we want".

The spokesperson intimated that the constituents were "bruised to the heart and wish to state in unequivocal terms that Abuga Pele will retain the seat in 2016 as an independent candidate to continue to pursue the interest of the people regardless of whichever party wins the Presidency".

The group also gave the government a one-week ultimatum to dismiss the Kassena Nankana West District Chief Executive, Mr.George Nonterah for his alleged "incompetence and misconduct" that were likely to affect the NDC's electoral fortunes in the 2016 elections.

They accused the DCE of playing a role in the defeat of the incumbent MP in the primaries and alleged that his actions rather gave Lawyer Rudolf Amenga-Etego an upper hand to win the primaries.

Mr.Gantera pointed out that the fortunes of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since 1992 has been consistent under the sitting MP saying his "demeanor as an outstanding politician won him the support of his constituents over the years".

The spokesperson also stated that Mr.Pele's loyalty to the NDC and his personal contributions to the growth of the party was unquestionable and immeasurable hence it was "very unfair to ignore a person who has devotedly worked hard for the party to be formidable at the grassroots".

Touching on the just ended constituency primaries which saw Lawyer Rudolf Amenga-Etego winning by 4,337 votes as against 4,177 votes by the incumbent MP who, the spokesperson for the group stressed that Mr.Amenga-Etego won the primaries by "fraudulent means" only to give the seat to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the November polls.

"The voters register used in the East Zone of the constituency were fraudulent and does not represent the true voter populace of the NDC; all registered voters of Kurugu, a section under Kandiga, Rudolf's hometown had their names in the voters register majority of whom are from the NPP," Mr.Gantera alleged.

Meanwhile, Mr.Pele himself has indicated that he needed to discuss issues about him going independent plus other options available with members of his constituency saying if the people insists then he has to go independent.

"If going independent is the general feeling of my people I would rather disobey anybody rather than to disobey my people who have stood by me all these years judging from my support base" he stated.
