Springs of Joy Ministries, East Legon Fitness Club undertake medical screening
The Springs of Joy Ministries International Church has undertaken a breast cancer awareness walk within the East Legon community in Accra.

Sponsored by the East Legon Executive Fitness Club, the church conducted free medical screening exercise for the residents and provided them with free National Health Insurance registration and renewal.
The organisers examined the breasts of the residents and also screened them for Hepatitis B, Malaria, their blood group, Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, among others.
Beneficiaries
About 500 residents of East Legon and its environs benefited from the screening exercise. They included public and civil servants, the aged, children and the less privileged.
The General Overseer of the Springs of Joy Ministries International Church, Prophet Dr Akwasi Agyemang Prempeh, who addressed the beneficiaries, said the exercise formed part of the church's social responsibility to give back to the community in which they operate.
According to him, the church had a non-governmental organisation (NGO) known as the "Helping Generation", which carried out community education annually to sensitise people to health-related issues, among others.
He said since October is a breast cancer awareness month, his organisation decided to provide free breast cancer screening for women in addition to other diseases.
Early Detection
The wife of Prophet Agyeman Prempeh, Mrs Rosemond Prempeh, advised the women not to be discouraged or stigmatised in screening for breast cancer, but approach it with all the seriousness it required.
She said early detection of the disease was key to managing it and assured the women of providing support for those who would be diagnosed as having the disease.
The Chairman of the Event Committee of the East Legon Executive Fitness Club, Mr Martin Brobbey, thanked the church for bringing health service to the doorstep of the people and pledged the club’s collaboration and support to the church.
