Ngleshie Amanfro resident appeals for construction of roads

A retired roads engineer, Mr Reginald Acquaye, has appealed to the government to prioritise the construction of roads within Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South Municipality in the Greater Accra Region.

That, he said, would help ease vehicular congestion in the area even after the construction of the Kasoa interchange project.

According to the engineer, until roads within Ngleshie Amanfro were made passable, the Kasoa area would continue to experience vehicular traffic congestion even after the completion of the overpass.

Mr Acquaye, who was speaking to the Daily Graphic at Kasoa, said considering the number of vehicles which used Ngleshie Amanfro as a detour to get to surrounding communities such as the new market, Obom, Akwele, Opeikuma, Ofaakor and Bawjiase in times of heavy vehicular traffic on the main Accra-Winneba road, it was imperative that roads in the Ngleshie Amanfro community were given the needed attention.

“Just like the Tuba junction diversion, which connects through Nyanyano, the same thing must be done particularly from the main Ngleshie Amanfro junction through Amanfro Kingstown; from the ‘Fear God’ area to Blackgate through to the area known as ‘Brother Lee.”

Mr Acquaye, however, lauded the steps taken to upgrade the road from the main Amanfro junction but said more work needed to be done so that vehicles which hitherto passed through the Kasoa intersection could divert through Amanfro to minimise the vehicular congestion at Kasoa.

Landslide

Touching on a landslide, which occasionally blocked the Kasoa- Mallam road near the Tuba tollbooth, the retired engineer appealed to the Ga South Municipal Assembly to find a lasting solution to the problem before the onset of the rains next year. “I am surprise at how we have handled this problem over the years. For some time now, we have experienced this landslide during the raining season.This matter should be resolved once and for all,” Mr Acquaye said.
