A Deputy Minister of Power, Mr John Jinapor last week said the president’s main focus following his defeat would be to reorganise the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the next elections in 2020.

But speaking at a meeting of Heads of State of Government of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) in Abuja, Nigeria, President Mahama noted that his immediate intention was to take a “well-deserved” rest.

“Many people have asked me what my plans are but I have no plans yet. My immediate intention is to take a well-deserved rest. After three years of working without a single break I think that going forward I will be more engaged in sub-regional and global matters,” he said.

Meanwhile, the president will on Tuesday begin a nationwide thank you and farewell tour.
