‘Help weed out charlatans’

The Kumasi Presbytery Chairman of the Global Evangelical Church, Rev. Prof. Frank Fugah, has challenged the various Christian groupings to help weed out charlatans and fraudsters in clerical robes, whose sole purpose is to defraud and deceive people with the intention of making money.

He said there was too much corruption in the Church in recent times perpetrated by charlatans which if not purged would taint and derail the fortunes of the ‘body of Christ’.

Rev. Fugah added that the church was being overtaken by false doctrines and cults because members lacked sound doctrine.

He was speaking at a three-day seventh Synod in Kumasi on the theme: “Go make disciples, launch into the deep.”

“The Church in Ghana must be particular about the people we ordain into pastoral ministry to champion the cause of discipleship,” he said.

He said disciples were not super-Christians but people who had made it their lifelong desire to be like Jesus Christ.

Rev. Fugah urged the Church to develop resolutions and strategies that would promote disciple-making and safeguard authentic Christian faith and ministry in not only the Ashanti region, but in the nation at large.
