Rt Rev. Dr Setorwu Ofori, the Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church.

Faithfulness is key to national development

Ghanaians have been called upon to exhibit a high sense of faithfulness in all their endeavours in order to boost national development.

“Faithfulness is key to national development hence each and every Ghanaian must ensure that we remain faithful in every little thing that we do in order to promote national progress”.

The Right Rev. Dr Setorwu Ofori, Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church, made the call in a message to mark this year’s presbytery conferences held in all the 14 presbyteries of the church across the country.

Rt Rev. Dr Ofori and Rev. Rapheal Mac Attih, the Synod Clerk, led separate teams to some presbyteries, while Prof. Remmeil Adorsraku and Mrs Christie Bobobee, the Male and Female Presbyters respectively who represent the lay executive members on the synod committee, also led delegations to visit the rest of the presbyteries.

The executive members visited conferences held in the Accra, Tema, Kumasi, Takoradi, Koforidua, Kpando, Ho, Akatsi, Nkwanta, Jasikan, Tamale, Sogakofe and Hohoe presbyteries.

Materialism

Rev. Dr Ofori said materialism was taking the better part of some Ghanaians thus making people engage in all sorts of undignified activities that militated against the nation’s forward march.

He said the church would set up a development fund to support projects of congregations in need and to halt the current situation where they took loans from financial institutions at very high rates.

The Moderator said churches should be seen more as problem solvers than extortionists that only thought about benefiting from their members.

He said the constitution of the church was under review and urged individuals, groups, sessions and associations to submit their requests to the committee.

The leadership, he said, had come up with a strategic document to guide the new executive members to direct the corporate effort of the church.

Rt Rev. Ofori said this year’s synod would be held in August at the University of Ghana, Legon on the theme: “Thy Kingdom Come – Living the Kingdom Life”.
