Every human being is born with one quality or the other to enable him or her become a leader in a chosen field, the President of the Full Gospel Church International (FGCI), Rt Rev. Samuel N. Mensah, has stated.

Basing his assertion on Genesis 1:26 of the Bible, he said; “being made in the image of God means you were created to lead.” Quoting the scripture, he said “let us make man in our image and let them have dominion,” adding that dominion meant to control, rule, manage or lead.

“When God said we would have dominion, he wanted man to lead and to govern; that we would rule and be in charge. So whatever you do, wherever you find yourself – whether a father, whether a pastor, whether a leader, your job is to govern, your job is to manage, your job is to lead and be in charge and in control,” Rt Rev Mensah stressed.

He was delivering the sermon at a church service last Sunday to climax the FGCI’s annual week-long conference held from August 31 to Sept 6, 2015 dubbed “Giants Conference 2015” at the Emmanuel Mensah Chapel at Tema Community One, which was attended by members from the various branches of the church in Ghana.

The Giants Conference was on the theme “Called to serve with the Kingdom mindset” and featured other preachers such as Bishop Isaac Clive Mould of the Action Chapel, Tema; Rev. Dr George Wilfred Arthur, Living Word Chapel, Accra and Rev Robert Andoh, Assemblies God Church, Takoradi.

Expounding on the concepts of God’s Kingdom, Rt. Rev. Mensah said “everybody was born to lead. It means that both men and women have been given the ability and authority to lead. It means that leadership is not gender biased.”

He added that, in the sight of God there was no differentiation between a man and a woman and that the reference made to man was to both sexes. The FGCI President also said  the woman’s divine role and ability was to be a helper and multiplier to the man’s visions and aspirations.

Serve where you are gifted

Rt Rev. Mensah urged Christians to use their gifts to serve humanity, saying, leadership meant serving in the area where one was gifted. He listed individuals who were using their gifts to lead, as the United States tennis star, Serena Williams, former world boxing champion, Azumah Nelson and Black Stars football player, Dede Ayew.

He noted that the talented sports personalities were always given audience whenever they spoke on matters in their areas of expertise, stating that “we lead not just by position but we lead according to our gifting.”

Rt. Rev. Mensah reiterated that everybody was a leader in a particular area, and would be listened to when speaking in those areas. He, therefore, urged all Ghanaians to aspire to lead in their areas where they had the expertise or were gifted.
