The two traditional leaders took the oath of allegiance before the chief of the town, Nana Mensah Kumah III, the elders and the people at a mini durbar organised to mark the occasion.

The occasion was graced by Nana Nketia Ansah II, the Adehyehene of Otutu Abrempong, Asonahene of Aburi and Akropong; Nana Offei Ampofo Mensah, the Guantuahene of the Otutu Abrempong Asonahene of Aburi and Akropong and  Gyasehene of Pakro; the Queenmother of Pakro, Nana Awo Akyeabea I; Nana Otopa Amankwaa, the Osiahene of Bokyi Asona of Aburi; the Odikro of Boahenekrom, Nana Obubah, and the Abusuapanyin, Kwasi Opare.

Advice

Speaking to the people, Nana Dei asked them to assist him to initiate more development activities to raise the standard of living in the town.

He bemoaned the falling standards of education in the town and asked all stakeholders in education to step up their efforts to raise the performance of schoolchildren.

Nana Dei charged teachers in the town to assist schoolchildren to score good grades in order to benefit from the NPP government’s free senior high school (SHS) policy.

He pledged to mobilise whatever resources were available to put up a multi-purpose complex in the town to be used as an ICT centre, a library and a community centre  to provide knowledge and recreation for the people.

For her part, Nana Asabea promised to assist needy, brilliant children to attain the highest level of education.

Nana Mensah Kumah charged the new chiefs to bring their ideas and skills to bear on the development of the town.

He asked them not to be deterred by criticisms from those they would serve but remain focused on the task of building the community.

The new chiefs will be formally introduced in November this year to raise funds for development projects.
