Book on harmonious worker-employer relations launched
A book that seeks to promote harmonious relations between workers and employers has been launched in Accra.

The 212-page book contains steps and processes involved in resolving industrial disputes which, when followed sequentially by workers and employers, would ensure peace between them.
It also aims at ensuring that workers and employers settle disputes under the Labour Act without agitations.
Titled “Settlement of Industrial Disputes under Labour Act 2003, Act 651: Practice and Challenges,” it is authored by Opanin Obeng-Fosu, a former board member of the National Labour Commission (NLC).
Launch
Launching the book,the Head of the History Department at the University of Ghana, Dr Kofi Baku, said the book underscored the need to create a harmonious industrial relationship between workers and employers for increased productivity.
He attributed the frequent strikes to the fact that workers and employers did not adhere to the provisions of the Labour Act with respect to the resolution of industrial disputes.
Dr Baku, therefore, recommended the book to all workers and employers who wanted quick resolution to their disputes.
Chairman’s response
The Founder of the Salt and Light Ministry, Rev. Joyce Aryee, stated that the book was based on things that happened on the labour front and not on philosophical outcomes.
She described the author as an experienced man who had shown that he had practical hands-on knowledge of labour and industrial relations in Ghana.
The first copy of the book was auctioned at GH¢500 although the book is expected to be sold at GH¢30 at all leading bookshops.
