The health facility, expected to be completed in a year, is estimated to cost about GH¢689,721.

It comprises an out-patient department (OPD), a maternity ward, dispensary, recovery ward and consulting rooms.

It is anticipated that when the second and third phases of the project are completed, the first phase would be converted into an administrative block for the clinic.

Laying of block

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, laid the foundation block for work to officially begin.

He said the government was committed to bringing healthcare services to the doorstep of the citizenry.

The minister performed the ceremony as part of his first official visit to the municipality.

He also inaugurated a health centre at Adjiriganor, corn mill shops at Ogbojo and a school block at Sraha and inspected an ongoing school building at Ogbojo.

The minister, who was accompanied on the tour by his deputy, Mr Isaac Nii Djanmah Vanderpuye, said the government was aware of the sufferings of Ghanaians and was working hard to address challenges they were facing.

Efforts by government

Nii Afotey Agbo said the country was in a power crisis because despite the increase in population, the country still relied on the same output of power it had been generating over the years without any additions.

He, however, expressed his happiness that the scarcity of water that affected the Adentan community was over and indicated that the Ghana Water Company was presently replacing burst pipelines due to long years of neglect.

The Municipal Chief Excutive of the Adentan Municipal Assembly, Mr Benjamin  Angenu, urged residents in the municipality to ensure that their broken pipelines were  mended in order not to waste water.

At the inauguration of the health centre at Adjiriganor, Nii Afotey Agbo advised the nurses to demonstrate professionalism when handling patients.
