The two projects, which cost GH¢367,159.49, were funded through the assembly’s share of the District Development Fund.

Each of the facilities also came with a mechanised borehole water system and water reservoirs that would enhance smooth operations in the health centres.

The Kramokrom facility would serve communities such as Anuruso and Adum while that of Boatengkrom would serve communities such as Dwease, Nyamebekyere, Tutukrom and Praso. The establishment of the health facilities has come at a suitable time to save the people the trouble of having to travel far to Konongo to access health care.

The Municipal Director of Health Services, Mr Martin Osei Sarfo, said the two facilities were constructed with the intention of ensuring that health care was brought closer to the people.

According to him, the facilities would ease the burden of high cost incurred in seeking heath care and in having to travel long distances through poor roads, among other inconveniences, which equally affected the health of the people.

He urged residents in the beneficiary communities to patronise the CHPS compounds and desist from travelling the long distance to Konongo and other big towns for their healthcare needs, since that would defeat the purpose for which huge sums had been spent in putting up the facilities.

He urged the people to ensure that they maintain the facilities and support them financially so that they last long to serve the purpose for which they were established.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Asante Akyem Central, Alhaji Braimah Boyong, assured residents of the area that the assembly was ready to provide needed infrastructure as a means of improving the standards of living of the people.

He said two other CHPS compound projects, which were at the final stages of completion and situated at Chechebiase and Kyekyewere, would soon be inaugurated. He said the two facilities would increase the number of health institutions in the municipality and the nation as a whole.

He announced that there were plans to acquire a new ambulance for the municipality considering its strategic location in the region.

Alhaji Boyong said quality health care was at the top of the government’s priority list. He pledged to continuously provide needed support for improvement in the quality of life of the people.

The Chief of Dwease, Nana Owusu Banahene, was full of praise for the assembly for its support for the health sector which he said would go a long way to enable the people to improve on their productivity.

He urged health personnel who would be posted to work in the health facilities to work diligently and educate the people on preventive health in order that the need would not arise for them to spend money on improving their health.
