At a ceremony to present the materials to the school at Akuse, the President of the NGO, Dr Matilda Madiwe Adda, said the group was working towards attaining a society where every child had access to quality education, health care and shelter.

She said since its inception over a decade ago, the group had undertaken activities in the areas of education and had also offered support to orphanages among others.

Dr Adda said the donation to the Akuse Methodist Basic School was part of the group’s programme to engage in charity work annually. She expressed the hope that the donation would help boost the pupils’ interest in education.

“We are desirous of serving as role models to the pupils and would encourage them to take their studies seriously in order to excel,” she said.

The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Director of Education, Madam Rose Yaa Akanyi, lauded the efforts of other interest groups such as Plan Ghana and Pencils of Promise for providing furniture and educational materials to schools that were in need.

She said children should be given the utmost care in their formative years to enable them to grow to realise their potential.

The head teacher of the Akuse Methodist Basic School, Ms Mary Caesar, received the items and thanked the group for the gesture.

She expressed the hope that the school’s enrolment would increase in the next academic year because of the educational materials the school had received.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lower Manya Krobo, Mr Jacob Frederick Kwame Acolatse, who chaired the programme, said the assembly was ready to partner individuals, groups and civil society organisations to promote education in the area.
