The presentation was made under the KAMA Education Project (KEP), a skills training project instituted by the CEO to give entrepreneurial education to students and teachers across the country.

Making the presentation, Dr Agyekum Addo said it was made in response to a passionate request from a former school prefect of the school, Papa Yaw Agyekum Addo, who did not ask for money as most leaders would  do but rather asked for the instrument that would guide the people to make the money, and that was to put clocks in every classroom, office, auditorium and the dining hall.

He said 70 of such places were identified, and on behalf of the KEP, the clocks were  donated to the school.

Essence of time

He said time management was necessary in any successful business, and pointed out that “our success or failure in life depends on the right use of time. A student who makes good use of his time will have no difficulty passing any examination well. People have become famous and rich by making good use of time.”

Speaking to the students on time management, Dr Agyekum Addo said “to be able to make money, you should be able to manage your time well and that is what is referred to as time management,” adding that time management is the act of planning and exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities, especially toward effectiveness, efficiency and productivity.

Entrepreneurial revolution

He said the 21st Century was witnessing an entrepreneurial revolution and, therefore, advised the students to learn a vocation every vacation.

“It will open your understanding of things and issues to be a multi-skilled personality who will be able to identify business opportunities to create one yourself,” he said.

He, therefore, advised the students to use their time wisely, saying that “time is precious, time never stops, it never shows pity to the poor and never salutes the rich. It has its own weight and value, it cannot be retrieved nor saved. It can only be used as an opportunity and it becomes money if utilised efficiently.

Dr Agyekum Addo said “Achimota School has produced great leaders in this country, and with my love for the school, even though I am not an alumnus, I believe I can help bring out greater leaders from the school if they will have greater value for time”.
