GREL builds school for Bamiakor

A three-classroom block,a store and an office, built at a cost of GH¢137,586.63 by the Ghana Rubber Estate Limited (GREL) in collaboration with the Association of Chiefs on whose lands GREL operates, has been handed over to the Bamiakor community in the Nzema East District in the Western Region.

According to the Corporate Affairs Manager of the company, Mr J.C. Garbrah, the company had built 15 basic schools for the communities in its operational area.

Some of the beneficiary communities include Nsuaem, Abura, Apimenim Number one, New Subri, Anibil, Ankyeryin, Avrebo, Kedadwen and Duahorodo.

The rest are Onzeanye, Chavene, Dadwen, Adiewoso and Awidae.

He said also that as part of the company's corporate social responsibility, the company had since 2005 awarded 122 scholarships to brilliant, needy students in its operational areas.

The Corporate Affairs Manager said the company would continue to support the communities to enhance their living standards.

Mr Garbrah said to keep the children in their communities during holidays, the company had been organising long vacation classes for them since 2006.

The Omanhene of the Bamiakor Traditional Area, Awulae Angamatu-Agyan ll, commended the GREL for initiating such a project in the area.
