The three-year Diploma in Registered General Nursing programme will commence with the admission of 70 students.

According to the outgoing Principal of the college, Mrs Lydia Asiedua Yamoah, before she assumed office in November 2004, the school was offering only one programme, with a student population of less than 100.

She said fortunately, through her effort, the college was currently offering four programmes and students’ population runs into thousands.

The programmes currently offered by the college include a two-year Post Basic Health Assistant Clinicals and a three-year Diploma in Midwifery and indicated that the introduction of additional programmes had automatically increased student intake.

Improving facilities

She said that called for additional infrastructure and the improvement of human resource capacity to ensure effective teaching and learning.

Mrs Yamoah indicated that she had worked hard to ensure the expansion of existing facilities in the college to accommodate more students, with the construction of a four-unit classroom block, two-unit six - bedroom bungalow for teaching staff, hostels to accommodate more students, a 1,500 capacity auditorium, as well as the upgrading of the road network in the college.

Touching on the performance of students, she said it had been very impressive over the years and attributed that to the hard work, commitment, and dedication on the part of teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.
