Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Omankrado of Bando, Nana Osam IV, said the community was concerned about the poor performance of its pupils in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the lack of accommodation for the teachers.

Nana Osam, known in private life as Mr Jonathan Abraham, a Tema-based electrical engineer, said education was the best property parents could bequeath to their children since the knowledge and skills they acquired could neither be taken away nor contested on any grounds.

He implored the teachers to take advantage of the facility to offer their best in imparting knowledge to the pupils and expressed the hope that the pupils would complement the efforts of the teachers by studying hard to obtain better grades in their BECE to enable them to pursue higher education.

Nana Osam advised parents to live up to their responsibilities of providing the needs of their children, especially resources for their education and health instead of expending such scarce resources on expensive funerals.

Assurance

He assured that the community would continue to support teachers in the community.

Nana Osam said the chiefs were in consultation with the Ministry of Health for the construction of a health facility at Bando to cater for their health needs and added that they had earmarked a piece of land for the project.

He called on the government to rehabilitate the road network in the area to facilitate economic activities to reduce the poverty peasant farmers in the area faced.

In a related development, the chiefs in the area have agreed to revive the Abura Etsifi Chiefs Development  Association to accelerate the development of the area.

The chiefs have, therefore, agreed to unite, work together and mobilise resources and their people to execute projects for their mutual benefit.
