The presentation was done at this year’s annual end-of-year get-together organised by the Omanhene of Dormaa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, at Dormaa Ahenkro in the Brong Ahafo Region last Monday.

The beneficiaries comprised 37 females and 33 males who are pursuing their education at the secondary and tertiary levels.

According to Mr S.H. Baah, the Board Chairman of DORMEEF, since the year 2000, the fund has supported  1,360 students out of which 869 are male and 491 females, adding that a total of GH¢185, 874.84 has been spent on them.

Mr Baah urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously in order to give meaning to  the fund.

Osagyefo Agyeman Badu ll  said although the year 2013 was a difficult one, God saw the nation through.

According to him , the popular mantra “Boys Abre, Girls Kasa” is a wake-up call for all leaders, be they traditional, political or religious, to ensure that the right things are done.

He noted that in spite of the country being endowed with natural resources, Ghanaians continued to suffer due to apathy by those who did not support the government in power.

The Omanhene hinted that the Dormaa Traditional Council had resolved to revamp the one time popular “Fofie Festival” to unite the people of the area as a means to raise funds for development.

Osagyefo Agyeman Badu stated that November 2014 would be the period for the celebration of the Fofie Festival, and called for the support of all Dormaa citizens in and outside the country to make it a success.

Dignitaries present at the event included the Queen of Dormaa, Nana Akosua Frema Dwaben, the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and Member of Parliament for Dormaa West, Mr  Vincent Oppong Asamaoh, the district chief executives (DCEs) of the three district  assemblies in the traditional area, as well as heads of departments.
