Welcome address by the ICGC General Overseer at Greater Works

It gives me great pleasure to welcome the city of Accra and the nation at large to this year’s Greater Works Conference. This is a very significant year for us at the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC).

Over the past 32 years, we have focused on our core mission of raising leaders, shaping vision and influencing society with the principles of Jesus Christ.

This God-given mandate has been expressed through the teaching of God’s word, outreach programmes and events, media ministry, socio-economic interventions and infrastructural development, among other things.

The month of July is a most important of period in ICGC. The whole month is devoted to a programme of prayer and fasting that commences from the first of July every year.

Known as the Spiritual Emphasis Month, this period of consecration enjoins all our churches worldwide to renew their commitment to God and to intercede for the nation, families and their personal needs. It is also a time to rededicate themselves to righteous living and as instruments of societal transformation.

The Greater Works Conference is held to climax the Spiritual Emphasis Month. It is a time of praise and worship, great music and transformational teaching where God’s people are empowered to go and replicate the works of Jesus in their workplaces, homes, schools and various areas of endeavour. It is also a time of miracles and the demonstration of the power of God.

The name “Greater Works” was inspired by the words of the Lord Jesus Christ in John 14:12, which says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

Every year, ICGC works with a theme that guides our teaching, outreaches and activities as a church. This year, the working theme of the church is INFLUENCE.

This is informed by the teachings of Christ in Matthew 5, where he enjoins Christians to be the light of the world, the salt of the earth and a city set on a hill which cannot be hidden. Inspired by this commission, the International Central Gospel Church took a decision to share the blessing of the Greater Works Conference with the wider public.

Traditionally, all sessions of the five-day conference have been hosted on the premises of ICGC Christ Temple at Abossey Okai in Accra. Over the years, the facility has been unable to contain the thousands that throng into the event to experience God’s presence. As we mark a year of influence, we have moved the evening sessions of this year’s event to the Independence Square to enable many more people to benefit from the experience. The morning sessions will still be held at ICGC Christ Temple.

Joining me to minister God’s word at this year’s Greater Works Conference will be my good friends and regular guests, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo from Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) in London, United Kingdom; Bishop Tudor Bismark from Jabula New Life Ministries in Harare, Zimbabwe; and Bishop Mike Okonkwo of The Redeemed Evangelistic Ministry (TREM) in Lagos, Nigeria. Music ministration will be by Lumina and the Accra Symphony Orchestra.

Let me take this opportunity to extend a special invitation to everybody to fully participate in GREATER WORKS 2016. The conference starts tonight Monday,  July 25, 2016 and climaxes with a Communion and Anointing service on the night of Friday, July 29, 2016. The morning sessions will be from Tuesday,  July 26, 2016 at ICGC Christ Temple at 9.30am while the evening sessions will be at the Independence square at 5 pm.

As God’s people gather from all over the place for GREATER WORKS 2016 on the theme, “Influencing the Nations,” it is my prayer that each person will be touched in a special way and empowered by God’s word to do greater works and to influence the nations of this world with the principles of Christ.

Come along with your family, friends and loved ones as we trust God to open the heavens and pour down a blessing on individuals, families and our nation as a whole.

May God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong.

Shalom! Peace and Life to you!
