Although the brand Making Faces has been around for the past 15 years it is just about a month old at its current location.

The outfit which started as just a make-up unit has transformed into a beauty parlour which offers a number of services for its growing clientele.

In a chat with the brain behind Making Faces, Ms Araba Ansah, she told Graphic Showbiz, her outfit started at Kokomle then to Nyaniba and now Labone.

“ We have moved around but for several reasons. As we started branching into another aspect of the beauty industry, we realised Kokomlemle was too small to accommodate us so we moved to Nyaniba.

“ However, anytime it rained heavily, our premises got flooded at Nyaniba hence the need to move to Labone. Infact, we were on the Kofi Baako Street and now we are here. In the Labone Arcade.

According to Ms Ansah, with a workforce of six, Making Faces now offers everything hair and beauty.

“ My workers have special skills and we do braids, weave-on, wig caps, manicure, pedicure, massage, tattooes, facials, bridal makeup, training in makeup, home service among others.

“ Although we do all of these, massage, makeup, and wig caps are our specialty. These are our forte and our customer base which is made up of young and old, male and female, international and local leave here happy most of the time.

“ With our massage customers increasing by the day, we are in the process of turning our old place on the Kofi Baako street into a massage parlour. And that will be ready soon”, she added.
Ms. Ansah added “ People sometimes come in with certain needs but in as much as we want to make money, we just do not serve so that you look worse off than when you came in. We offer beauty tips where necessary so our cherished customers will make informed choices and leave our premises very satisfied and looking good as well.

Ms. Ansah nicknamed ‘celebrity make-up artist’ said it started when her late brother, fashion designer Kofi Ansah relocated to Ghana after living in the UK.

“ At that time, I was just doing make up for a few people. Nothing really serious but my brother encouraged me to take a second look at it and polish my act because he believed I could be a good makeup artiste.

“ He then pulled along to make up his models anytime he had a fashion show or photo shoots and with time, I perfected my act and the rest they say is history.

In fact, everything I know concerning make-up, I taught myself till a couple of years ago when I enrolled at the Joe Blasco Make Up School in Los Angeles to study special effects.
Since then I have worked with the cast of Cursed Ones which landed me an award with Ghana MoviesAward in 2015. I was also nominated for the AAMA Awards in Nigeria.

On where Making Faces is going as a brand, Ms Ansah said “ we are looking at coming out with our own make-up line which is long overdue. And of course, we aim at making sure Making Faces is associated with everything and anything beautiful.
