Kesse talks about life

It’s normal for artistes of all shades to embrace trending issues and beats in their works to enable them sound relevant and that is what young highlife artiste, Kesse has done with his latest song titled, Kwaadede.

Though he is young in his musical journey, the 2008 Mentor winner has proved he is a force to reckon with when it comes to the usage of good lyrics in a song to promote a good cause. He did that with Okyeame Kwame’s Sika and the song earned the Best Songwriter of the Year at the 2013 Ghana Music Awards.

He is back and this time around, he explores the “essence of life” to listeners on Kwaadede, a highlife piece produced by Gem in Dansoman.

“I think the time is ripe for artistes to use their platform to talk about relevant issues in the society than always resorting to danceable songs which mostly, don’t have any relevant impact on the audience,” he told Showbiz in an interview on Monday.

An inspirational song that aims at healing the ‘spirits of weakened and despairing listeners’, the 3:38 minutes-piece encourages hard work and also entreats people not to give up in life when they face challenges.

It tells of the fleeting nature of time and how people must take opportunities when available than wait for another day. Kesse’s vocals has always been an asset and on Kwaadede, he proved that quality with his delivery.

Kwaadede is indeed music that speaks to your soul because I want to put in the minds of Ghanaians, a mature Kesse who has grown in the game,” he stated.

Having risen to fame through competing and winning one of Ghana’s top ranking talent hunt shows, Mentor in 2008, Kesse said his latest song was composed to “mirror an artist’s love for his fans and a yearning for them to thrive in all they do, even when times seem hard and hope seemingly lost”.

Kesse real name Michael Kesse Frimpong, has showcased his talent in a wide range of hit songs like Obiba, 2 Eyes and Treat Her Royal which have received airplay both in Ghana and outside of the shores of the country.

His unique talent has led him to feature with industry big names including award winning talents such as Sarkodie, Efya and D-Black.

The winner of the best vocalist category in the 2012 Ghana Music Awards,  has songs across the Afro-Pop, Rhythms & Blues, Hiplife and he revealed plans to release his maiden 12 Track album titled Few Words by end of the year.

“The album features Sarkodie, Efya, Stonewow, Edem among others and Kesse says the maiden album is to “announce his official journey in the music business”.
