Dr Agyepong is the founder of over 40 cutting-edge companies, providing innovative and creative business solutions including Accra Compost plant, JA Plant Pool and Zoomlion which has operations all over Ghana and some African countries.

A statement issued by Ms Sophia Lissah, Group Head, Communications of Jospong Group, said Mr Siaw-Agyepong  was among some distinguished Africans and Ghanaians who received recognition during the 6th African Achievers Awards (AAA) held at Abuja Nigeria last Saturday.

Excellent individuals

It was on the theme, “Securing a Stable Energy Future for Africa” and aimed at recognising excellent individuals and organisations that have distinguished themselves while contributing to the growth and development of Africa.

Other award winners from Ghana were the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, for her charity works in the area of empowering vulnerable people in society, particularly children and women across Africa, and Ambassador Sylvanus Tettey Tamaklo, Ghana’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe and Mozambique, for his immense contribution to African literary works.

Commendation

At a brief ceremony to hand over the awards to Dr Agyepong in his office on Monday, Ambassador Tamaklo recounted the events of the day and reiterated the fact that the power situation in Africa was a general problem which requires a concerted effort to deal with. He said given the necessary support DR Congo could power the whole of Africa in the nearest future.

He said the organisers of the programme were full of commendation for Dr Agyepong for his visionary leadership in business and job creation, calling on other Africans to emulate his example for the rapid development of the continent.

Mr Edgar Arcos, the Chief Operations Officer of the Jospong Group, and Mrs Florence Larbi, the Managing Director of Zoomlion Ghana, received the award on behalf of Dr Siaw-Agyepong and thanked the organisers for the recognition which they said would spur them on to do more.
