Tennis: Garrison beat Ashanti

Four Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Club, led by S.S. Abebe, last Thursday put up a plucky performance to defeat Ashanti Tennis Club 7-6 in their friendly tournament played at the Ashanti Club Court. The two teams exhibited great tennis artistry to the admiration of the fans as 4 Garrison won both the men and ladies singles.
The event, which was organised to celebrate the May Day, began with the ladies singles which saw Blenda Suntinga of Garrison beating Vanessa Mutanami 6-4.
In the men singles, Joe Kordie of Garrison lost to Dr Abraham Oppong 6-2 while Kwabena Agyemang of Garrison defeated George Osei 6-2 with Kwabena Gyaakye of Ashanti beating Joseph Duah of Garrison 6-2,
but Francis Apese of Garrison beat Ryan Asante 7-6.
In the other men singles, Samuel Ampadu-Kyei (KYIKYISS), the president of Garrison, lost 6-1 to his counterpart in the Ashanti Club, Alex Asante, popularly called "ABELE”.
Kwadwo Akonia of Garrison also defeated Ben Dwomoh 6-4, with Jonathan Quartey also of Garrison beating Nana Yaw Nyamaa 6-3 .
