Tennis: Accra Seniors Open set for Nov. 19

All Africa Games gold medallists, George Darko and Wisdom Na-Adjrago, are set to battle each other next month at the 13th edition of the Accra Seniors Open Tennis Championship at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club, scheduled for November 19.

The pair, who won gold medals for Ghana at the games in Brazzaville, will now face each other for honours during the Seniors Open tourney beginning November 19 on the clay courts of the Accra Lawn Tennis Club.

 

The Championship is an annual competition organised by the club under the auspices of the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) to keep senior tennis players in top shape.

 According to the event coordinator, Peter Annan, the gold medallists, Darko and Na-Adjrago, are expected to pull the crowd, aside from other attractive matches in the professional category.

The professionals category includes the Men’s Open singles and doubles, as well as Ladies Open singles.

However, the championship will also see seniors compete in the Men’s Singles, comprising those who are 30 years and above up to 60 years and above, as well as Men’s Doubles reserved for players within the age groups  40-49,  50-59, 60-69, and 70 amd above.

The 10-day tourney also features doubles competition for ladies who are 30 years and mixed doubles.

This year’s tourney is sponsored by Japan Motors, Inesfly Africa,Voltic, MTN, All Afra Electricals, UT Bank, Athlantic Group, Akai House, and CDH.
