While defending champion, Andy Murray has been ranked number three for the competition, women’s defending champion, Serena Williams remains the top seed and she will be eager to put the French Open disappointment behind her and focus on winning again on grass.

On the men’s side, Rafael Nadal is coming off yet another French Open victory, but all hope is not lost for the other competitors. Despite being a nine-time champion at Roland Garros, Nadal has only gone on to win Wimbledon twice.

That glimmer of hope is all big names like Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and defending tournament champion  Murray need. Expect plenty of marquee matchups in the star-studded men’s bracket.

For the women, Serena is coming off a tough early-round loss at the previous Grand Slam but will be looking to bounce back at a tournament she has won five times over the course of her career.

Djokovic is number one, French Open champion Nadal — Wimbledon winner in 2008 and 2010 — is seeded second, with Roger Federer, who will be out to claim an eighth singles title at SW19, fourth.

The women's seedings directly follow world rankings and so American Serena, the five-time Wimbledon champion, is number one.

China's Li Na is second, with Simona Halep of Romainia third and Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska fourth.

The 2014 French Open winner Maria Sharapova, champion at Wimbledon 10 years ago as a teenager, is seeded fifth.
