Masipraist Tennis Singles Wednesday

Tennis players in Kumasi are gearing up for the second edition of the famous Masipraist Ventures all singles competition to coincide with this year’s Eid--ul-Fitr at the 4 Garrison Officers’ Mess Tennis Court in Kumasi on Wednesday.

At least 50 crack tennis players including national stars are expected in the city on the eve of the competition for the seeding.

Masipraist, dealers in solar panels, security systems and I T equipment in Kumasi, is one of the key companies helping to build the country’s tennis stars.

The Managing Director of the company, Maxwell Owusu, himself a tennis player and member of the 4 Garrison Tennis Club, said he was motivated by the efforts put in by the current executive of the club to raise the game of tennis in the region.

He promised to make the competition an annual affair.

The president of 4 Garrison, Samuel Ampadu-Kyei (Kyikyiss), said the club was excited at the support to help make the players active ahead of major competitions.

He said it was becoming very expensive in organising such competitions and urged other companies to invest in the sport, which would be patronised by especially children and could reduce streetism in the country.

Some players likely to feature in the men’s categories are Kofi Affum Baffoe, Henry Akwaboah, Samuel Ampadu-Kyei, Nana Attakora, Capt. Anati Brian, Liberty Kwashie Amamoo, Peprah Sarpong, Salifu Seidu Abebe, Justice Edward Amoako Asante, Ray Cobbina, Dr. Abraham Adjei Oppong, Ernest Antwi and Kwame Asare.
