Kussachin, Brenda win Masipraist tennis

Nii Kwei Kussachin put up a class-act performance to beat former champion, Jonathan Quartey, 7-6 to lift this year’s edition of the Masipraist Ventures tennis competition at the 4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Court in Kumasi last Saturday. 

Nii switched into top gear stopping all his challengers, including the president of the club, Samuel Ampadu-Kyei (President) 6 -1 in the semi- finals. He also defeated Kwasi Sarfo Boakye  6-1 in the quarter- finals. 

On his way to the final Quartey  also beat Samuel Taylor 6-1 in the  semi- final and defeated Nana Attakora  6-1 at the quarter- finals stage.

In the Ladies category, the twin sisters Bridgatte and Brenda Sutinga faced off in the final. Brenda defeated Bridgatte 6-4 to lift the ladies trophy. 

Before getting to the final, Brenda Sutinga had accounted for Brenda Bangdome 6-1 in the semi- finals while Bridgatte  Sutinga beat Mamud Mariam 6-3 in the semi-finals.

In all 97 cracking tennis players, including 16 ladies, took part in the tournament which was sponsored by Masipraist Ventures, dealers in Solar Energy accessories, Security systems, and IT equipment. 

The Managing Director of MasiPraist Ventures, Mr Maxwell Owusu, praised the organisers for the successful organisation of the tournament.

 He assured the 4 Garrison club of his company’s continued support for the development of tennis in the region.
