Ho tennis club wins 2015 Asogli Yam festival tournament

The Ho Tennis Club won the 2015 Asogli Yam Festival Tennis Tournament. The club beat stiff competition from two other clubs to win the tournament.

It won six out of nine games to lift the decorated Stanbic- Asogli Yam Festival Trophy.

The day’s event, sponsored by Stanbic Bank was to popularise the game.

Maritime Tennis Club from Accra won two games with Tour Tennis Club from Tema winning just a game.

Mr Kojo Akoi-Larbi, Manager, Communications, Stanbic Bank, who presented a cheque for 10,000 Ghana cedis to the Ho Tennis Club said the Bank was proud to be associated with Asogli Yam Festival and the Tennis Tournament.

“When people are healthy and happy, we at Stanbic are happy, so we are happy to be here and will continue to support sporting activities in the country,” he said.

He said the Stanbic bank believed in contributing to the society from whom the bank derived the mandate to do its business saying “we have the responsibility to give back to the people for whom we exist”.

Mr Victus Horlu, Secretary, Ho Tennis Court said the high patronage of the tournament was an indication that Tennis was no longer for the elite in society as many perceived.
