4 Garrison to organise Otumfuo Tennis tourney

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has given his blessing for the organisation of an annual tennis competition in his name as a means of rejuvenating the once vibrant sport in the country.

The tournament, which is expected to feature the youth, will be hosted in Kumasi and organised by the 4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Club.
The date and modalities of the competition are yet to be finalised.
At last Wednesday’s Awukudae at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi where he also hosted President John Dramani Mahama during his ‘Accounting to the People’ tour, the Asantehene tasked the 4 Garrison Club executives to organise the competition because of their recent stellar performances and good organisational skills.
The Asantehene said he was committed to the development of all sports, especially the lesser supported disciplines which had virtually become orphaned.
The executives of the 4 Garrison Tennis Club donated GH¢2,000 towards the Otumfuo Educational Fund.
