Steven Polack still chasing Kotoko for compensation

Steven Polack, the coach who was in charge when Kumasi Asante Kotoko had a car accident at Nkawkaw last year, is demanding compensation not just for himself, but for all victims, for the trauma they had to go through as a result of the unfortunate incident that claimed a life.

According to Polack, apart from the insurance policy the club had, several donations were received from well-wishers, thus it should be possible for the club to provide some compensation for the victims.

Polack who claimed to be still nursing his wounds in Finland told the Graphic Sports in frustration: “The simple principle is that there should be some kind of compensation for the accident victims and someone must be liable for it. Where are all the donations that people made to the club after the accident?

“I’m not just fighting for myself but, for others who were affected during the accident and who are still with Kotoko, but who are afraid they will lose their jobs if they make demands openly.

“Some of us will live with the injury conditions for the rest of our lives as a result of the accident. I still have problems with my neck and my back and my doctor says I am going to have that problem forever, yet I don’t have any compensation for it,” he said.

“It is very inconsiderate and unfair of the club to take that stance of not providing any compensation because they picked the medical bills. If for nothing at all, Kotoko should consider the trauma we as victims went through by giving some money to the victims,” Polack stressed.

Officials of Kotoko’s insurance company, Hollard, confirmed to the Graphic Sports that the company had honoured its obligation to the club for the group policy, but could not be held liable for individual compensation as there was no such policy with the club.
