Starlets pass final MRI test - Benin, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire fail

After overcoming a major headache of seeing his charges correctly passed the Magnetic Resonance Imagining (MRI) test conducted by CAF, Black Starlets coach Karim Zito says he is now focused on the task ahead.

According to him the uncertainties of the outcome of the MRI scan scared his players ahead of their departure as they were not sure of what might have been the outcome of the CAF’s test.

“I am happy we all passed the MRI test”, the coach told Daily Graphic yesterday and revealed that Benin had been disqualified from the competition because 10 of their players failed the test.

The coach also disclosed that two players each from Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Niger and Togo who failed the test had been expelled from their respective teams.

So far, Ghana is the only country with a clean bill of health as all the players passed the test, the coach stated and was confident they would be ready for the competition come Wednesday.

Ghana was disqualified in 2015 from the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after some players failed the MRI scan.
