Plange sure of winning IBO title As he fights Dasmarinas
Ghanaian boxer, Jesse Manyo Plange, will carry the country’s hopes when he walks into the ring to wrestle the IBO bantamweight title from Filipino’s Michael Dasmarinas on Saturday in Singapore.
The atmosphere may look intimidating for the Ghanaian who will be fighting for the first time outside Ghana against a tough boxer who will have the huge crowd in the arena rallying behind the Filipino.Even before the fight, Dasmarinas already feels he is the fans’ favourite after he won their admiration during his previous bout in the Asian country.“"Singapore feels like a second home to me already because it'll be my third fight," Dasmariñas said ahead of the game and believed the fans would be behind him because, "In my second fight there, I performed well and gained more fans."Plange will be making his debut fight outside the shores of Ghana and with this undefeated record of 17 fights, 15 by way of knockout, hoping it would be intimidating enough for Dasmarinas to quickly surrender the title.Ahead of the bout, the hard hitting Plange’s trainer, Daniel Lartekwei Lartey, issued a strong warning to the champion to be ready because they are ready to take the belt back to Ghana"We are here to beat his style and not his power," Lartey said. "We are the best in West Africa and we want him to expect a tough fight from us.""We came here to win and to make sure we arrive home with the belt which we believe would certainly come to pass. We are ready for any of his threats on Saturday." The 30-year-old Ghanaian would be fighting a much younger Dasmrinas, 26, and a southpaw but a much experienced boxer with 28 wins two defeats with 19 knockouts. He has promised to blaze the trail of other greats and former world champions, including Azumah Nelson, Ike Quarter and Joshua Clottey who all did the nation proud in the past.
