Frank Nuttall demands $12,000 from Hearts

Dismissed Accra Hearts of Oak coach, Frank Nuttall is demanding a compensation of $12,000 in salary arrears, bonuses and prize money after the club terminated his contract last month.

The Scottish trainer (Frank Nuttall) wants his former employers to settle all monies due him as contained in his contract, with Hearts PRO, Kwame Opare Addo, admitting that the club has received a letter from Nuttall’s lawyer demanding payment.

But a Hearts insider confirmed to the Graphic Sports in an interview yesterday that the club owed Frank Nuttall some money and were ready to refund it only after undertaking reconciliation of figures because they doubted the quantum being demanded by the coach.

“There are some in dispute so once the management have not agreed to all that, we can’t confirm that to be the actual amount involved,” the Hearts source said.

According to the source, the club owed their former coach just one-and-a-half-month salary and not what Nuttall was demanding.

“Actually, his salary for January and half of February that he worked…. but he is making other claims up to $12,000 plus, but it’s up to the management to agree to all the demands,” the source said.

The source further noted that although it was specified in the coach’s contract that he would benefit from a bonus for every trophy he helped the club to win, the Ghana @ 60 trophy was not considered a major competition that required payment of a bonus as being demanded by the coach.

The Graphic Sports further learnt that Hearts adequately compensated both the technical team and the playing body after that Ghana@60 Cup triumph and, therefore, wondered why Frank Nuttall would ask for additional money when he had already taken something.

“When we won the Ghana @60 Cup, the entire team was given a handshake which he (Nuttall) benefited from, so I am surprised why he would still demand extra payment,” added the Hearts insider.

New Hearts CEO, Mark Noonan, has reportedly responded to Nuttall’s demand letter, but says payment would be dependent on the decision by the club’smanagement and once they agree to the full payment, it would be paid.

“They quoted salary for February but his termination was mid-month so once it’s mid-month it’s up to management to decide whether he would be paid full or not.”
