Nanevie rides high in US
Ghanaian table tennis star, Courage Nanevie, produced yet another spectacular performance in the Westchester monthly competition to win the 40mm handicap event last weekend.
His performance thus won him the opportunity to participate in the JOOLA Table Tennis Championship slated for Washington on Friday.
Disclosing his achievement to the Daily Graphic from his US base, Nanevie said he was delighted with his performance for the month which had earned him the opportunity to play on the big stage.
He said the three-day competition, which will be staged in Washington, was regarded as one of the biggest competitions in table tennis, attracting players from all over the globe.
He further said the competition would be played with about 148 tables and would attract some of the best players across the globe.
Nanevie emphasised that he would continue to project the country’s image positively outside and expresses the hope to play well to emerge triumphant in the competition.
The Ghana Navy staff, who is on a five-year scholarship with the USA table tennis club, was impressed with his transformation in the game since switching base to the USA.
