Messi’s wedding: Maradona, Enrique not invited

After months of anticipation, the football world and Argentina will today witness what is probably the biggest wedding in recent times as Lionel Messi ties the knot with Antonella Roccuzzo in his hometown of Rosario.

The wedding has captured the attention of the world since the pair have known each other since age five, and the world is itching to know who have been invited to be part of this special occasion in the couple’s lives.

Leo and Antonella were reportedly keen for a wedding that included close friends and family.

An impressive list of football stars, mainly from Barcelona and the Argentina national team, have been invited.

Gerard Pique and his partner ,Shakira,  Luis Suarez and his wife, Sofia Balbi, as well as Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who came through the Barcelona ranks with Messi, will also be present alongside his partner, Daniella Semaan.

Two people are conspiciously missing Diego Maradona, Messi’s, former coach at the national team, and Luis Enrique, his immediate past coach at Barca.

Messi’s relationship with Maradona is not thought to be bad, but the pair are not in contact on a daily basis.

Aside Enrique, none of the coaching staff or hierarchy at the Camp Nou have also been invited and it is reported that the couple will hold another party in Barcelona later this year for those that couldn’t make it.
