Kotoko to get new coach by October 1 — CEO

The Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Mr George Amoako, has promised followers of the club that his management team is working hard to appoint a new head coach before October 1 to fill the managerial vacuum created by the sudden departure of Paa Kwesi Fabin.

The Porcupine Warriors have been without a substantive head coach following the surprise resignation last week of Coach Fabin, citing personal reasons for terminating his contract.

“We are looking around to find a new replacement for Coach Fabin before October 1. I prefer Ghanaian coaches and I just need a coach who can handle Kotoko and give us the best results,” Mr Amoako told Accra-based Asempa FM yesterday.

He said it was his ambition as CEO to work with other stakeholders of the club and use his experience to help the Porcupine Warriors reclaim their lost glory in Ghana and in Africa.

Mr Amoako, who has held management positions in Kotoko under different administrations, believes the club have what it takes to win the Ghana Premier League and also take the rest of Africa by storm in continental competitions.

“We want to win the league, go to Africa and win it and stay on top. We need to quickly establish our presence among the top teams in Africa and stay on top; that’s where we belong,” he said.

He added that the absence of a written policy of action to guide the club in their 83 years of existence had been one of the banes of Kotoko and prevented the club from achieving more honours and developing beyond their current state.

Mr Amoako said Kotoko deserved to have better infrastructure and promised to see to the renovation of the club’s Adako Jachie training grounds to meet the standard required by the FA’s Clubs Licensing Board.
