I’ll defend my title at all cost — Allotey

World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa super welterweight champion, Patrick Allotey, has promised to put up a fight of his life when he defends his title against Congo’s Sheriff Kasongo at the Bukom Boxing Arena on December 24.

At a press conference held at the Bokum Boxing Arena yesterday, Allotey (39-3-0) said he was optimistic of defending his title.

“I have prepared enough for the battle against Sheriff Kasongo; I do not want to promise a knockout but it can happen.

I have watched my opponent and he is a very good boxer. He is skilful and is not a push-away boxer.

It will be difficult but I promise to be victorious,” he confidently asserted.

The night’s bill dubbed: “Cabic Fight Night II” will also have Richard Harrison defending his WBO Africa heavyweight title against Okola Morris from Kenya and Emmanuel Quaye also fighting for the national middleweight title against a yet-to-be-named opponent.

Mr Ivan Bruce Cudjoe, the Chief Executive Officer of Cabic Promotions and Management, told the media that his outfit’s pursuit to win a world title for the nation was course.

“We at Cabic Promotions promised Ghana a world title and we are seriously and assiduously working on that.

Hopefully, the nation would see another world title early next year; we cannot disappoint,” he assured the public.

Ataa Eddie Pappoe, an international referee/judge, advised the boxers to be serious and avoid complacency.

“I entreat the boxers to take training seriously; training and discipline have done the magic for the top boxers we know, and if these boxers also train and check their attitude they can go places,” he said.

In other supporting bouts, Charles Armarteifio will battle Kuwornu in an eight-round super featherweight contest, Solomon Martey will face David Kotey in an eight-round featherweight fight while Zuberu Mohammed meets Richard Ashong in a national super middleweight title contest.
