Women’s Special Competition Week 3:Police, Northern Ladies beat rivals

Police Ladies and Northern Ladies over the weekend earned crucial points against their rivals, to further push for places in the quarter-finals of the ongoing National Women’s League special competition honoured with Match Day Three fixtures.

While Police Ladies earned an emphatic 3-1 over Samaria Ladies with a great comeback at the ATTC Park at Kokomlemle, Northern Ladies stunned regional rivals, Pearlpia Ladies 2-0 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium Annex in Tamale.

Faiza Ibrahim scored a brace in the 76th and 89th minutes before Aguadze Juanita added a third goal in the 90th minute to give Police Ladies three straight wins after three matches.

Police now lead the Group D table with nine points followed by Halifax Ladies with six, after they (Halifax) recorded a 2-1 victory over Immigration at the Saint Thomas Aquinas Park yesterday.

Samaria Ladies took the lead on the 30th minute through Juliet Abankwa but Police Ladies recovered with three goals to win the game.

In the other Group D game, Halifax Ladies added to the woes of Immigration with a 2-1 away at the Saint Thomas Aquinas School Park to gain six points from three matches.

In Group B, goals from Black Maidens’ heroine, Mukarama Abdulai and Black Princesses midfielder Linda Obeng on the 10th and 28th minutes, respectively, sealed victory for Northern Ladies against Pearlpia.

At the Nduom Sports Stadium, Sea Lions and LadyStrikers shared the spoils as they played to a goalless draw game last Saturday.

The game between Prisons Ladies and Ampem Darkoa Ladies at the Sunyani Coronation Park was rained off but it was repeated on Sunday which ended 1-1.
