Mukarama receives FIFA U-17 awards

Black Maidens skipper, Mukarama Abdulai, has finally taken custody of the Adidas Golden Boot and Adidas Bronze Ball she won at the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay last November.

A GFA Normalisation Committee member, Naa Odofoley Nortey, presented the awards to the player yesterday in the presence of officials of some female clubs who were at the GFA Secretariat in Accra for a meeting.

Mukarama emerged top scorer of the competition with seven goals from four matches to win the Golden Boot and also claimed the Adidas Bronze Ball as the third best player of the tournament behind Spain's Claudia Pina and Nicole Perez of Mexico.

FIFA recently sent the awards to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to be handed over to the player following Ghana’s quarter-final elimination before the awards presentation.

Mukarama, who is now Ghana’s all-time top scorer in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup history, was also nominated for the 2018 CAF African Women’s Player of the Year award.
