GFA inaugurates 6 Ad-hoc committees

The President of the Normalisation Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Kofi Amoah, has expressed his confidence in the abilities of individuals appointed on six ad-hoc committees to assist it carry out its mandate to reform Ghana football.

At their inauguration yesterday at the GFA secretariat in Accra, Dr Amoah said the 46 members were drawn from various backgrounds and would bring their wealth of experience to impact positively on the work of the FA’s caretaker body whose six-month mandate runs out at the end of March.

Committees inaugurated yesterday comprise Domestic Leagues, Communications and Promotions, National Teams, Technical and Development, Referees Committee, and Marketing and Sponsorship Committee.

Among the personalities appointed to the committees are Mr Samuel Ebo Kwaitoo of the Graphic Sports, Mr Albert Sam, formerly of the Daily Graphic, former SWAG President, Mr Ebo Quansah; GHALCA chairman, Mr Kudjoe Fianoo; former GFA vice-president, Mr Fred Pappoe and former Black Stars greats Stephen Appiah and Samuel Osei Kuffour.

The Referees Committee has Mr Fianoo as chairman and includes Alex Kotey, Vivian Aggor, Carl Ashie, Adam Munkaila and Emmanuel Dasoberi as its secretary.

A former chief executive of the National Sports Authority, Dr Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, heads the Technical and Development Committee, which includes Professor Joseph Mintah, Francis Oti-Akenteng, Hearts of Oak’s CEO, Mark Noonan, Fred Pappoe, Stephen Appiah, RAG chairman, Joe Debrah and Mark Addo.

The Domestic Leagues Committee is headed by Dr Kwame Baah-Nuakoh and has Jones Alhassan-Abu, Kwame Ntow-Fiako, Frank Todd, Mike Bonsu, Dr Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo and Sena Akoto Ampaw as members.

Renowned advertising and marketing practitioner, Mr Reginald Laryea heads the Marketing and Sponsorship Committee, which has Messrs Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah, Yaw Addo Larbi, Nana Amanpene Boateng Twum, Frederick Frimpong, Richard Ahiagble, Teetee Owusu Nortey, Afia Korakyewa Ntim and William Bossman as members.

The National Team Committee is headed by Dr Patrick Ofori and includes Samuel Kuffour, Mrs Sophia Korkor, Frank Adu Jr, Samuel Kwaitoo, Gifty Appiah, Charles Kwadwo Ntim and Francis Essah Adu as members.

Mr Paul Adom Otchere, a former management member of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and host of ‘Good Evening Ghana’ on Metro TV, heads Communication and Promotion Committee which has Messrs Ekow Asmah, Albert Sam, Kwami Sefa Kayi, Ohene Brenya Bampoe, Ebo Quansah and Tamimu Issah as members.

After the inauguration performed by Naa Odofoley Nortey, a member of the Normalisation Committee, Dr Amoah noted that he had high expectation of the committees to do a good work for the next few weeks and present reports to the Normalisation Committee.
