Home-based players, Abdul Fatawu Safiu of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak’s Mohammed Alhassan failed to make Coach Kwesi Appiah’s final 23-man squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt later this month.

The final list, which was confirmed to the Daily Graphic by Coach Kwasi Appiah yesterday, also saw striker Abdul Majeed Waris, Black Meteors skipper, Yaw Yeboah and US-based Ebenezer Ofori missing out.

This means both Safiu and Alhassan could feature in Sunday’s Special Competition Tier 1 semi-final clash between Hearts and Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Stars coach settled on his final squad after the team’s first international friendly against the Brave Warriors of Namibia, which saw the second string Ghanaian side losing 0-1 in Dubai last Sunday.

The 29 players who were in camp were first reduced when St Gallen defender, Nuhu Musah, was ruled out by a knee injury last week Wednesday.
