Gameboy faces tough test tonight

Ghana's lightweight contender, Emmanuel 'Gameboy' Tagoe, faces a tough test against former world titlist, Moses Paulus, in a bid to regain his status in the sport tonight after making the required weight for the WBO Africa lightweight championship at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Tonight fight, which will headline the maiden edition of the Asamoah Gyan Fight Night, saw the Namibian weighing 132 pounds as against Tagoe's 134 pounds, with both boxers keen on giving of their best.

Having been stripped of his IBO lightweight title, Tagoe (28-1, 14 KOs) remains confident in defying all odds to defeat Paulus in order to enter the ratings to stand a chance of fighting for the world title in the future.

Speaking at the official weigh-in at the Buxom Boxing Arena yesterday, the president of the Baby Jet Promotions, Asamoah Gyan, was confident that Tagoe would be declared winner on the night, having monitored his training closely.

Gyan explained that his utmost concern was security but assured that everything had been put in place to ensure an incident-free event and to prevent another misunderstanding just as it happened in the Wasiru Mohammed-Isaac Sackey fight last Saturday when supporters of both camps engaged in a fierce fight.

"I am confident that Gameboy will be declared winner after the fight because I have been impressed with his training in the last few days.

"We don't want to witness another incident like what happened last Saturday so we have put in place a strong security to deal with any occurrence that might take place at the venue," he said.
