Contract for world title bout against Garcia signed - Commey
Former Commonwealth lightweight title holder, Richard Commey has confirmed that he has put pen to paper on a contract to fight Mikey Garcia (39-0, 30 KOs) for the WBC and IBF lightweight world titles
(26-2, 23 KOs) in a post on Twitter said he was hoping that Garcia would sign the contract so he could win the WBC and IBF titles.
He posted: "My contract to fight @mikeygarcia is signed, sealed and delivered and I hope he’s done the same as I can’t wait to win the @WBCBoxing and @IBFUSBAboxing lightweight titles!".
The IBF in August ordered Garcia to reach a deal with mandatory challenger Commey.

“Robert Easter’s mandatory was due on or before March 30, 2018. The Unification was granted with the condition that the winner must fight the IBF leading available contender in a mandatory of the IBF Lightweight title. The leading available contender is #1, Richard Commey," an IBF representative stated to Boxing News.
“Negotiations should commence immediately and be concluded by August 30, 2018. In the event that you are unable to come to an amicable agreement with Commey, the IBF will call for a purse bid.”
According to ESPN, there is no set date, site or broadcast arrangement for the fight, but if it comes off, Ringstar Sports promoter Richard Schaefer, who works with Garcia, said it would likely take place in January.
"We had to come to a decision and a conclusion here -- either Mikey would have to give up his IBF title or defend it against Commey and the decision was to defend it," Schaefer told ESPN. "Now we have to select a date and a site. We have a little time to do that. I'll be working on that with (Garcia adviser Al) Haymon and (Commey promoter) Lou DiBella during this week and next."
"We made a deal for the fight, a real deal," DiBella told ESPN.
"Mikey Garcia isn't walking through Richard Commey. Richard Commey is a tough fighter. He's the kind of fighter who is a high-risk, no-reward type of opponent. But anyone who knows anything about boxing knows Richard Commey is a good fighter and top lightweight contender but obviously he is not bringing big money to the table. But Garcia wants to keep his title so he has to fight Commey. You got to give the guy credit. Mikey's not afraid of anyone. It's a great opportunity for Commey to prove himself."
