Princesses play Combined Forces as they prepare for Uganda clash Saturday

Ghana's Under-20 female football team, the Black Princesses will this afternoon engage Combined Forces, a women's division one side in the Central Region in a trial match at the Robert Mensah Stadium.

The match forms part of the Princesses preparation towards the second leg of their Women's World Cup (WWC) qualifier against Uganda in Cape Coast on Saturday.

The Princesses who arrived in Cape Coast last Tuesday, have stepped up their preparations in a bid to claim a double against Uganda's Young Crested Cranes in their third round tie of the campaign.

Two weeks ago, in Kitende, the Princesses won the first leg 2-1 with goals from Salimatu Abdulai (19th) and Grace Animah (48th) earned them a 2-1 with the Ugandans earning a consolation through Fauzia Najjemba’s penalty conversion.

In a conversation with head coach Ben Fokuo, he said despite the healthy lead, the Princesses were not leaving anything to chance hence the decision to play some trials before the second leg.

He said they were particularly working to improve their finishing as that has been identified as the weak link of their campaign.

"We have to improve on our finishing. It is getting better as we have moved from recording 1-0 wins to 2-1 and apart from the slow start, I think the players being anxious to score has also been the reason why they are not converting all the chances they create in games, so we are working on that ahead of the Uganda game on Saturday," Coach Fokuo told the Graphic Sports online.

He said apart from the game against Combined Forces, they are hoping to also play another game on Thursday and then take a rest before the clash against Uganda on Ssaturday.
