Former Ghana international, Kweku Charles Bismark Taylor Asampong alias Charles Taylor has advised Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi to resist the temptation to switch nationalities else he will be forced into early retirement.

The Chelsea star was the subject of a charm offensive on a recent trip to Ghana and held meetings with President Akufo-Addo and the President of the Ghana FA, Kurt Okraku.

The Champions League winner has already been capped three times for England, but FIFA’s new rules allow players who have not played more than three senior matches for their country before they turn 21 to switch nationality.

However, Taylor who made 16 appearances and scored two goals for Ghana's national team says Ghanaian fans are quick to condemn players after a bad game so Hudson-Odoi's family must advise the Chelsea star not to commit to the Black Stars.

The former Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko star in an interview on Kasapa FM said he would have only supported the nationality switch if President Akufo-Addo was the coach because members of the Ghanaian football community are dishonest.

Taylor's beef

Citing the career of Black Stars winger Christian Atsu, Taylor said Hudson-Odoi's career would go down the same path because the former Newcastle man was abandoned by the national team selectors after losing his place at his club side.

He said he knew of many players including Kwesi Appiah and Kevin-Prince Boateng who faced difficulties in their club careers after switching nationalities and playing for Ghana.
