George Amoako heads new Kotoko management

Veteran sports administrator, Mr George Amoako, has returned to the family of Kumasi Asante Kotoko as the head of a new management team appointed by the Executive Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr Kwame Kyei.

Dr Kyei appointed Mr Amoako, who handled the finances of the club in previous administrations, as the Chief Executive Officer of the club with immediate effect, alongside 10 other persons, barely 24 hours after dissolving the previous management.

Also named in the new management is Mr Edmund Ackah, who has been appointed as the Greater Accra representative of the Porcupine Warriors, a position he had occupied before.

Other members of the 11-member management team appointed by Dr Kyei to transform Kotoko into a winsome side are: Mr Samuel Sarfo Duku, who is the new Director of Communications; Mr Yaw Amo Sarpong, Policy Analyst; Mr Isaac Donkor, Director of Operations and Dr Jerry Pratt Newton, the club’s medical officer.

Other members are Nana Kwame Dankwah, Deputy Greater Accra representative; Mr Caleb Adams, Psychologist; Miss Rose Padmore Yeboah, Administrative Manager; Miss Lucy Josephine Andoh, Deputy Administrative Manager and Nana Akwasi Gyambibi, Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman.

A statement issued by the Administrative Manager of Kotoko, Miss Yeboah, said: “ The appointments take immediate effect,” adding that “the director of communications is to appoint other persons to constitute the communications directorate”.

“The executive chairman strongly believes in the capabilities of the newly-appointed persons to propel the great fabulous club to the greatest height in the game of football,” the statement assured.

It, therefore, appealed to the numerous supporters of Kotoko to rally behind the new management team to enable it to achieve good results.

Last Monday, Dr Kyei dissolved the management of the club and directed that they handed over their respective offices to the club’s secretariat in Kumasi.

No reasons were given for the dissolution of the management, but the statement indicated that Dr Kyei would soon constitute a new team to steer the affairs of the club.

Among the old management were Mr Yaw Boafo, a Kumasi-based legal practitioner, Mr Thomas Boakye-Agyemang (Tom Krugger), and Mr Obed Acheampong, who was the spokesperson of the club.
