All Women’s Breast Cancer Awareness Tennis Tournament begins Friday

The second edition of the All Women’s Breast Cancer Awareness Tennis Tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday, October 22, 2021, at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club.

The 2-day event organised by Mentoring Women Ghana is being held in October to mark Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The Executive Director of Mentoring Women Ghana, Ms Brigitte Dzogbenuku in an interview said the tournament hopes to capitalise on the growing interest in tennis among women to create awareness about breast cancer.

"We will mark the Breast Cancer Awareness month with a tennis tournament. There is growing interest among young women in the sport of tennis, most to keep fit, others to enjoy the game and others, for the competitiveness of it. We will be bringing them all together," she said.

“There is going to be free breast screening and advice from experts and also a story of breast cancer survivor”.

Ms Dzogbenuku also urged interested players to register at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club (ALTC) to participate in the tournament.

Interested players can register for one category each for the event which is supported by Ecobank, Hollard, FC and Ghandour Cosmetics.
